A Heart that is Known

Ever since God first created He has sought a relationship with mankind. He wanted fellowship with us from the beginning. We certainly would have no hope of a friendship with Him if He didn’t first seek one with us. And He DID.

Deep breath, Katie. See, the greatest desire in me is to know God. And God makes that a reality. My greatest dream–real. I am unable to remain unchanged every time that passes through my mind. Thanks, God! I mean, no words to express my thanks here. I’m not capable of being near You so You made a way for me. You did all the work. Now that I’m near, I’m doing all I can to become more like You.

And He doesn’t just allow us to know Him. He knows us too. Our Creator, our great God, He knows us! He is not far off and aloof. He is deeply interested and invested in us. He knows you. He knows me.

Excerpt of Solomon’s prayer dedicating the Temple:

“Whatever prayer, whatever plea is made by any man or by all Your people Israel, each knowing the affliction of his own heart and stretching out his hands toward this house, then hear in heaven Your dwelling place and forgive and act and render to each whose heart You know, according to all his ways (for You, You only, know the hearts of all the children of mankind), that they may fear You all the days that they live in the land that You gave to our fathers.”   1 Kings 8:38-40

Verse 39, “For You, You only, know the hearts of all the children of mankind”. Wow! Isn’t that incredible?! He knows our hearts. The enemy doesn’t know our hearts. Our families don’t always know our hearts. Sometimes we don’t even know our own hearts! But they are known by Someone. And He answered Solomon:

“And the Lord said to him, “I have heard your prayer and your plea, which you have made before Me. I have consecrated this house that you have built, by putting My name there forever. My eyes and My heart will be there for all time.” 1Kings 9:3

1 Corinthians 3:16 says that we are now God’s temple. Is it possible that if we cry out to this God, who knows our hearts, and say we want to know Him that He will answer in the same way?! “I have heard your plea…I put My Name in you forever…My eyes and My heart will be there always.” Oh, yes! More than possible, more than likely–that definitely will be/is His answer! Dig around the Bible and you will find that very promise in many different places.
